New York and Beach?

We are visiting New York for one week in late September and were thinking of spending about 4 days in the city and 3 on a beach. Any ideas? We will have a car but could fly. What will the weather be like? Thanks

New York and Beach?

Hi here is weather information. September it%26#39;s still nice out but late sept is pushing it not to be so warm. If you go to Long island and or Jersey shore I would suggest a car. In New York city you don%26#39;t need a car.

New York and Beach?

Hi pfox2309,

For guaranteed beach type weather and swimming in late September, I would consider Florida and the southern part of the USA. Have a great time in NYC !!

.. and here is agood web site for ocean emperatures.

Well, what about Florida/hurricane season?

(I%26#39;ve always avoided it, although I actually don%26#39;t know the risks)

Fire Island NY is lovely then, though water/air may be a bit chilly.. No car needed (or allowed)

Late September isn%26#39;t really beach weather in New York, although the Polar Bear Club swims year round at Coney Island. If cold temps don%26#39;t bother you, there are many great beaches in the NYC area.

On Long Island the Ocean Beaches are located in the Hamptons on the South Fork, and the North Fork has Sound beaches. THe North Fork is also noted for its wine touring. You will need to rent a vehicle.

There are great beaches on Fire Island, off the coast of Long Island and no car would be needed there. In fact, none are allowed.

Or, you could just stay in the City and check out Manhattan Beach, Coney Island and Riis Park. They are not the most pristine beaches around, but they%26#39;ll do quite nicely.

Water is still pretty warm in late September, it heats up all summer and takes a good six weeks to cool down again.

That said: late September is the cheapest time to fly down to Florida/Caribbean. If I were going to spend 3 days on the beach, New York is the last place I would do it...(even in mid-July).

And, if it turns out you love NY but still want a beach:
