Sunday or Monday?

In terms of avoiding the crowd, which day is better to visit the UN and to take the Staten Island Ferry. Sunday or Monday? Also is morning or afternoon better?

Sunday would be less crowded and check the shedule for the ferry. They are different for weekdays and weekends.I like the morning. Have Fun !!!

Sunday or Monday?

The ferry is used as real transportation so weekdays at rush hours (7-9) you%26#39;ll have lots of people using it to get to/from work. There are plenty of seats but more people. Midday on a weekday is a good time for the ferry. Sunday is fine but as Urban said, it runs less frequently.

The UN is not open for tours on weekends.

Should have included 4-6 on the evening rush hour.

Consider the Staten Island Ferry in the evening. Around sunset. Then you can get a gorgeous view of Manhattan in lights. And there is little crowd then.

Thank you UrbanNYC, NYNM, nywhiz. Replies much appreciated. Am I correct to assume to avoid (if possible) taking the subway during peak hours as well?

During rush hours the subway can be as closely packed a a can of sardines. Whether that is a reason to avoid it or not is up to you.
