Two weeks in Brooklyn: A Trip Blog

We spent a couple of weeks in Park Slope from 23 April to 7 May.

The following is a link to our brand new blog which charts our adventures:

http://livefromtheslope.blogspot.com/

This blog comes with a warning. It is long and detailed. When we say long, we mean long, very long. It is as much a blow by blow account for us to look back on as it is a trip report. If anyone makes it to the end message us and we will send you a certificate!

We scoured these boards before our trip and took lots of useful info from the helpful folks on here. Hopefully we can give a little bit back. Hey, if it wasn%26#39;t for TA we would never have met BrooklynMel!

We have added a few photos to spice things up. Navigation is easy, you can select the post to read from the menu on the right, oldest posts first.

Although the blog is already longer than War and Peace it is only the first 7 days at the moment. 8 days to follow. We will post here as we add more entries, interest permitting.

Enjoy!

Cool blog. Can%26#39;t wait to see week two. One of the best things about trip advisor is not only the advice, but the ability to meet and greet.

I credit my tournament win the day after The Gate to the Fursty Ferret.

Brilliant! I hope you get around to posting week two soon.

I%26#39;ve copied some of your photos. I%26#39;m crazy about your shot of the parachute jump. It was a favorite ride back in ';the good old days,'; hopefully it will one day be restored.

Forgive me for making a couple of minor corrections for your blog. The theater in Central Park is the Delacorte (not Delacroix), and the Blue Note is in the Village -- the club on 42nd St. is B.B. King%26#39;s.

And the subway station you were expecting to find at 59th St. is NOT called 59th St. -- the station name is Fifth Avenue, and there are entrances at 60th St. and Central Park South. The station just east of it is called 59th St.

Thanks again!

Wow... I mean WOW.... Your blog is fantastic. I have not read through all of your first seven days yet, but I most definitely will.

Some wonderful photos in there too!

Thank you for taking me back to New York!

Great blog. Cant wait for the next 8 days....I%26#39;m exhausted from seeing how energetic you are.

I%26#39;m soo jealous off your 2 weeks in NYC! Loving the blog so far

Great blog - great fun! I totally feel your pain on that $60 cab ride - been there-done that - and that%26#39;s why car services are now my mode of transport between JFK and Park Slope.

Bar Toto and Barbes are my 2 most favorite bars in the Slope - Barbes has one of the most interesting musical line-ups in the whole city. Great choices on your part.

When (not if) you come back - remember Blue Ribbon on 5th Avenue for that late night food urge - they are open until Midnight on M-Th and Sunday and until 2AM on Fri and Sat.

Looking forward to the next 8 days!

Thanks all for your kind comments.

Outoftheinkwell - Cheers for pointing out the inaccuracies. We have corrected the references to Delacroix (obviously made that up) and Blue Note. We will have to put you on the payroll as quality control!

The subway at 59th. Your explanation does make sense and I am sure that it is correct. The problem, however, is that MTA mark the station as 59 St/5 Ave on the transit map. Hence, two confused English tourists standing in the middle of Grand Army Plaza scratching their heads. Still, no harm done - we found the entrance in the end.

Next post should be up later today or tomorrow.

Love your blog! I had plans for tonight but got engrossed in your trip report so they went out the window! You gave me a lot of ideas for our trip in October. Thanks for posting this.
