Bronx Zoo

My boyfriend and I are driving from Florida to Maine. On the way, we are planning to spend a day at the Bronx Zoo. We want to be there the night before to get an early start at the zoo.

Just wondering if there is anything we should know and/or look out for? Any insider zoo tips, traffic worries or anywhere we should avoid when looking for a hotel. Anything!

I am not sure of the way you are coming but I would suggest you stay in a hotel before the George washington bridge in Fort lee New Jersey area. There is not much choice in the Bronx for a hotel. In the early morning there is traffic going over bridge and if there is an accident.The zoo opens around 10:00 it should be not too long of a ride with normal conditions.

Wednesday is ';pay what you want day'; which means it%26#39;s pretty much free. I think we donated $5 last time. I%26#39;ve read that%26#39;s when they clean the cages so some animals might not be out, but I don%26#39;t remember having a problem with that last time I went on a Wednesday.

A big thanks to everyone! We were looking at hotels in the Ft Lee area, so it looks like that%26#39;s where we%26#39;ll stay.
