Accomodations- September or October?

Hi, I see a great deal to the Big Apple, but have to fly between September 8,and October 31. Which month is better and more reasonable for hotels? Or, any special deals during these months? Thanks, Mary

With the economy the way it is the following info might be totally wrong for this year, but in pervious years, early september is usually less busy, and hence less expensive, than late Sept and Oct.

All the great deals listed right now are for before Sept. 7 (Labor Day). Sept/Oct tend to be pricey times for hotels. Best advice is to try a couple different dates and see if there%26#39;s much difference. Definitely avoid the end of Oct. b/c of Halloween (big deal here) and also the NYC Marathon falls on Nov 1 so hotels fill up the week before.

A fast check on

shows there are better prices on Oct. 10 than on Sept. 10th. I see the Hampton Inn Soho for $159/night on Oct. 10. Good deal. ;)
