Best driving route Albany to LGA?

We have recently moved to Albany, NY from the midwest and are considering our first drive to LGA as flights are so much cheaper from LGA than Albany, and the flight times are much more convenient.

We thought about taking the train or other public transportation, but have discovered there is no easy route from Albany to LGA, so have decided to drive.

Can someone suggest the best route and non-rush hour approx drive time?

Also, if you know off hand, how much is airport parking at LGA? I can look it up, of course, but if anyone has an idea...

Just trying to decide if it is worth saving $200+ on airfare.

Best driving route Albany to LGA?

Take the thruway south to I287, that takes you over the Tappen Zee bridge, then I like to take the Strain Brook, that turns into the Bronx River Pkwy. Take that to the end, which is the Bruckner Expy (I278) take that west, I278 will turn into the Clearview exp and take you right to LGA.

Non rush hour would be about 2 hours. Parking is $30 for the first day and $15 per day for each day after that in long term parking, but you will probably not be able to get in there, so it will cost $30 for each day at the other lots. Of site lots usually run about $22 a day, but then you have to wait for their shuttle to take you and bring you back.

All in all, if all you are saving is $200, it probably isn%26#39;t worth the trouble.
