First -timer questions -- food, shopping, etc.

We just booked a weekend in NYC and we%26#39;ve never been there before! We are staying at the Intercontinental Barclay in Midtown East. We will have all day Friday, all day Saturday, and part of the day Sunday to spend there. There are so many things we want to do!

Can anyone suggest some good restaurants where we can eat that are somewhat close to where we are staying? We%26#39;ll need nice-ish restaurants for Friday and Saturday nights. We%26#39;d like to keep it under $100 per dinner (total for 2 people) if possible. On Saturday night we plan on going to the theater, so something in that area would be fine for one night.

Also, any recommended quick breakfast locations close to where we are staying (also inexpensive please).

Any shopping suggestions??? I%26#39;m a Banana Republic / Ann Taylor / Macy%26#39;s type of person... so nothing real out there, but nothing really expensive either. What area would I enjoy for some shopping?

Any other ';you have to do this / see this / go there'; ideas from anyone? We don%26#39;t plan on going to any museums, but we are planning on walking around Central Park, going to ground zero, shopping, etc.

Thanks!!

Regarding the restaurants, what sorts of food?

What area would that be - there are theaters ALL over Manhattan, not just the %26#39;%26#39;Theater District';

What is the exact address of your hotel?

There are restaurants , once again, all over the area.

Have you checked menupages.com for suggestions by area?

Or have you used the %26#39;Restaurants%26#39; listing to the left of these postings?

And to start - have you read the FAQ%26#39;s for 1st timers? Very informative.

Sorry, I didn%26#39;t realize that there are theaters all over. We haven%26#39;t decided on a show yet.

The hotel is at 111 East 48th St.

I read through all of the 1st time visit guides and FAQs and found them very helpful.

The big thing I%26#39;m having difficulty on is trying to find restaurants by location. I find all of these reviews and some of the restaurants are farther away - which I%26#39;m not completely opposed to, I know transportation is easy in the city - but I%26#39;d love some suggestions from someone who lives there or has been there many times about some restaurants within walking distance from the Intercontinental.

Thanks!

You can sort by neighbourhood (and cuisine) on www.menupages.com .
