My wife and I are looking to spend five nights, Sunday thru Friday in the Hamptons after checking on our kids at a PA camp visiting day the end of July. We have never been to the Hamptons and need some advise on where to go, where to stay, and why not, where to eat. We love beaches, quaint towns and wine. Sounds like this is the place.

The Hamptons are not terribly close to PA and can get pretty expensive at that time of year. Have you checked out the distance on maps.google.com? As to which town/location, it really depends on budget and your taste in accomodation (ie nice inn in town or motel on the beach). Montauk has the biggest selection of motels/condos on the beach and is most relaxed but also the furthest drive. Shelter Island is most relaxed but on the sound, not the ocean.
