Beautiful slideshow of Manhattanhenge, when the sunset lines up with the east-west street grid. http://bit.ly/18YnPR
This occurred over this past weekend, and will again on July 12 %26amp; 13th.
Manhattanhenge
WOW -- amazing photos!
Manhattanhenge
That is cool. But I also find you can get some great sunset/sun reflecting off building windows photos many days all year. Attn photographers, amatuer and other wise - get that camera readyQ That sun is strong and really makes the city golden : )
And when they say ';golden,'; for once it%26#39;s not in reference to that common liquid which gives our city its unique... aroma... in the summer months!
I was in NYC for Manhattanhenge in July of last year. The sunset was obscured by clouds, but this didn%26#39;t stop a few dozen hopeful viewers from gathering in the middle of the Tudor City bridge on East 42nd Street (one of the best viewing points for this phenomenon). I treasure my photos of a tight cluster of people staring intently at the small visible portion of New Jersey.
I%26#39;d give Manhattanhenge a high ranking on the list of quirky things that the locals know about, but that tourists are likely to miss. Check it out if you%26#39;re in the city on July 12th or 13th - there%26#39;s no additional charge.
For an explanation of what this is all about, see

and I will be there just until July 11. Dag nabbit!
