Coming to NYC June 27th

I just want to thank all the posters of this forum who have taken the time to post all of the great information on visitng NYC!

I%26#39;ve got my list made of things to see and do and now I just have to make an itenary that makes sense! I want to make sure we have time for a the extra stops that come along the way.

There is one thing we can%26#39;t decide on. We%26#39;re arriving on a red-eye from the west coast and I%26#39;m betting our hotel won%26#39;t be ready. I%26#39;m thinking of getting Grey Line passes and taking tours to kind of get a lay out of the land so to speak. I wonder if getting the 3 day hop on %26amp; hop off? Has anyone done this lately? Were the wait times long? I think I can figure out the subways (I hope!).

We%26#39;ve got 6 days and the morning we come home we%26#39;re going to catch Rob Thomas at The Today Show. I%26#39;ve always wanted to see him and I guess I just needed to come to NYC to do it! It will be a great end to what I%26#39;m sure will be a fantastic time!

Many people like the hop on/off bus tours. Whether to get tickets for 1, 2 or 3 days is up to you and your budget. They%26#39;re not a good way of getting around Manhattan but can be good for getting the lay of the land. Not sure I%26#39;d want to be sitting on one after a red eye though. Wouldn%26#39;t you be better walking around and getting some exercise having sat on a flight all that time?

Wait times for the next bus depend on day of week, time of day etc.

The HOHO tours are a great way of getting to know the City - But they are introductory and not a means of transporation. They are also limited to the usual tourist routes. I would do the HOHO bus on only one day for an taste of the City. Then, I%26#39;d purchase either a weekly or 21 ride Metrocard and take the subway.

The subways are efficient, cost effective, and do take you everywhere. An additional attraction is that you will be riding with actual New Yorkers, and not with tourists. The subway maps are free, and the system is relatively easy to negotiate.
