I and my wife are staying at a place in Bedford Stuyvesant and planning to travel into Manhattan from the Utica Station. The place is a couple blocks away. Is it safe at night to walk three or four blocks (Akwaaba is where it is located) or should we always use a cab to be safe (and can we expect them to be there).
Thanks
Cab at nightHi tour - Brooklyn, unlike Manhattan, does not have taxi cabs that stay in the borough and service local customer. They usually come from Manhattan and drop people off in Brooklyn then return back to Manhattan. So you will not find taxi%26#39;s after you get off at the Utica Ave subway stop.
Akwaaba Mansion is in a pretty good location - if you do decide to take the subway, get in the last car of ';A'; train headed downtown/Brooklyn to Utica Ave. stop. Walk to near corner (Stuyvesant Ave.) and make a left. Then walk four blocks to MacDonough St. and make a left to 347 MacDonough.
If it%26#39;s past Midnight or so, you might feel more comfortable taking a taxi from Manhattan. The cost will be roughly $30.
Cab at nightI suggest changing your location. The neighborhood is not safe after dark, especially for tourists.
