A group of ';girls'; are going to nyc for the yearly ';girls weekend out'; in October. I only know of a couple of ';local'; places to eat and would like to know more, can anyone help?
Where the locals eatWould help to know approx. age of ';girls';, types of food girls like, budget etc.
Where the locals eatthe girls ages rage from 19 - 63 !
Ok, but what is your budget/person? And what sorts of food do you like? No point recommending a $65 omakase if you want a $5 burger.
oops sorry, they will eat pretty much anything, chinese, american, mexican, italian etc... the budget would be in the reasonable range 15 and up for lunch and 20 and up for dinner
';20 dollars and up';.... but up to what?
Are you saying there is no limit to what you are willing to spend?
everyone seems worried about age and price ranges. I%26#39;ll try answering the question, although I%26#39;ll do it by modifying it. What you are really asking is where do tourists NOT eat. There are over 8 million locals (not counting commuters) and over 18,000 eating establishments. Subtract chain restaurants in the greater Times Square area, a smattering of places that are famous but not good and perhaps a dozen of the top 100 restaurants listed on TA, and what%26#39;s left is where the locals eat. Even in hard core Times Square, remember that there are more locals living and working within a 5 block radius than there are people in most decent size towns. So it is hard to really translate your question into a meaningful answer. That%26#39;s why everyone has responded by asking other questions.
I don%26#39;t know how helpful you%26#39;ll find this, but here%26#39;s a list of some of our favorite restaurants under $30/person that we put up pretty regularly. A couple of those places (Katz%26#39;s, for instance) are frequented by tourists, but most are not:
Indian: Surya, Brick Lane Curry House, Chennai Garden
Chinese: Nice Green Bo, Buddha Bodai
Ethiopian: Meskel
Italian: Frankies 17 Clinton Street, Frank, Supper, Max, %26#39;ino, %26#39;inoteca, Porchetta
American: Westville, Alias, Shake Shack, RUB (BBQ), Cafe Condesa
Jewish Deli: Katz%26#39;s
French: The New French, Zucco
Pizza: Totonno%26#39;s, Artichoke, Co., La Pizza Fresca
Turkish: Beyoglu, Turkuaz, Sip Sak
Take-out falafel: Taim
Thai: Holy Basil, Sripraphai
Greek: Kefi
Balkan: Kafana
Mexican: Cafe el Portal, Pinche, Itzocan Cafe
Latin American: Caracas Arepa Bar, Empanada Mama
Moroccan: Cafe Mogador, Nomad
Ramen noddles: Rai Rai Ken

I guess no one understands what ';reasonable'; means. So let me clarify nothing over 25.00 for lunch and 50.00 for dinner. Next time I will be more precise. Thanks for the help.
I don%26#39;t think no one knows what reasonable is...I think everyone just has a different idea of it which is why people like to know what the poster thinks....
River, ';reasonable'; means different price ranges to different people. E.g., we see people asking for recommendations for a clean, comfortable hotel room with private bath, centrally located, for the ';reasonable'; price of $50-60/night. That isn%26#39;t reasonable by NYC standards, it%26#39;s a steal, and it doesn%26#39;t exist.
$50 for dinner is unreasonable for not just a few people. So please don%26#39;t get your knickers in a knot because we asked for clarification.
