Wedding in NYC help

We are looking to get married in October 2010 in NYC. Can anyone suggest any ceremony venues that are a bit more unusual than the usual Central Park, Brooklun Bridge? Also we are looking for a wedding reception venue that is cheap!! We do not have a big budget, and the wedding party will be around 25 people.

how cheap is cheap?

You might consider having the ceremony at the same place as the reception. When in Oct. (different weather beginning and end) and did you plan on day ceremony and lunch or early dinner or some time inbetween the 2? Yes, specific budget and is better than general terms.

There are cos. that will arrange a ceremony in the Empire STate building. The very cheapest ceremony option would be using one of the County Clerk%26#39;s offices. People have used the one in Staten Island and said it was pretty nice. The trip over the Staten Island Ferry could be fun on a nice day.

Not super super cheap! We are looking at no more than 拢120 a head for the meal/buffet. Really I would prefer it to be around $50-100 a head.

We have no idea when in Oct, more towards the middle end I would hazard a guess.

We would like a late afternoon/evening wedding followed by the ceremony on a weekday

???????????

I have no idea what in the world this is supposed to mean.

You want an evening wedding, followed by the wedding the next day?

I think you mean you want a late afternoon ceremony followed by an early dinner? If you%26#39;re not using Central Park or some other outside venue, you could really do an early evening ceremony at the same place as the dinner. I%26#39;ve never been but Moran%26#39;s is a place in Chelsea that%26#39;s been mentioned a few times that does weddings.

If you%26#39;re trying to stay under $100/person, that%26#39;s going to be tough in Manhattan if you expect it to include alcohol. One way for a small party like yours to have a NYC experience, live music and dancing is to buy a table on one of the dinner cruises.

Have you seen the wedding guide at

We also got married in NYC - Just a quick point- NY expensive is UK Cheap!! We saved 15K by getting married there with 16 people.

Try ultimate USA website- super helpful and seem to be able to pull vaious rabbits out of hats. We booked our wedding though virgin, but virgin farmed out the work to utlimate USA. Ultimate were far more useful than virgin.

It may also be worth joining the US brides.com website- they have forums but all wedding related. I found it really useful.

Incidentally we did get married in central park- conservatory gardens. Our wedding dinner was at eleven madison park.

Also- register online for the zagat guide- seems every restaurant in NYC is in it and is seems easy enough to work through. It certainlyt came up trumps for us!

Also- as in UK getting married midweek is cheaper as are all the bits that go with it. We got married on a Thursday and it saved us about 305 on vaious bits and bobs.

Also, unlike UK photographers seemed happier to work for a couple of hours as such lots of pennies saved- good luck

Hi thanks for the info

What I meant was that we want to get married on a weekday, with the ceremony late afternoon followed by an evening reception.

When I say $100 per head I mean literally for food - we will not be having an open bar. I know that is the done thing in the States but its not in the UK and I am not paying for people to get drunk!

Although I know where you%26#39;re coming from regarding the open bar - us UK lot are used to paying for our our drinks at wedding etc.... however when you approach the restaurants you fancy for the meal afterwards, you may find that they will do you a deal for an event such as a wedding.

For example two options we were looking at were $100 per head for a three course meal in a private dining room (holding up to 30 people I think) and another was $120 per head for a three course meal INCLUDING an open bar.... so for an extra $20 per head, it may be worth considering an open bar option...... =)

Good luck with your planning....

Can you tell me where you are looking at?

We are getting married in NYC in Sept 2010 and are in the process of trying to find a reception venue, we were thinking of a private room in a restaurant, but our numbers are now around 50 people, so we are not looking for other options....

But the ones we were looing at were : -

A nice steak house with a few private rooms to choose from - you%26#39;ll have to call or e-mail them with your requirements and they%26#39;ll come back with some prices. I was quoted $100 per head for a three course meal. But I would think prices vary depending on the date and time etc.

I%26#39;ve not been here myself, but I think it is pretty well thought of on the forum - I%26#39;m sure someone will correct me if this is not the case!

They offered a three course meal plus the open bar option for $120 per head. Again I%26#39;m sure prices depend on the date and time, but worth a go.

Check out the menu%26#39;s on the websites to see if these are the sort of places your looking for....

Anything else I can help with, just ask!

Emma =)
