transportation question - Daily Show to Orpheum Theater

My question is this: On a Thursday night at 7 pm, I need to get from the Daily Show ((11th Ave between 51st %26amp; 52nd Street) to the Orpheum Theater (2nd Avenue between 7th Street %26amp; St. Marks Place).

Would a taxi or the subway be faster? and how long should it take?

Have you tried using

hopstop.com

to answer your question? They estimate 25 mins. by taxi and 45 mins. by subway or combo of crosstown bus and then subway. You%26#39;re starting from all the way on the west side going all the way to the east side.

There is no subway line any further west than Eighth Avenue, where you will find the not-very-useful-for-this C and E, and the nearest subway station to the Orpheum is Astor Place on the east side IRT local #6 train; that station is at Lafayette Street, about two blocks away. The simplest subway route would be to start at Seventh Avenue and 49th street and take the N, R, or W to 8th Street (which is practically adjacent to Astor Place.) Considering the initial distance to the subway (something over half a mile), you would probably make better time using a taxi the whole route. An alternative is to take a taxi to 49th and Seventh, and the subway from there, but that will probably save you little time, if any.

The most efficient way is a TAXI!
