Subway pass/card

What is the best way to purchase subway card? Is there a way to do this online or should we just wait until we get to the subway station, etc? Our hotel is close to grand central station, maybe that%26#39;s the best place to purchase the card? Also, would you suggest paying with cash or credit card?

In the subway station. I always pay with a card, using the vending machines.

Get it at the subway station - the machines are easy to use. Paying by card was also easy.

Note to those that don%26#39;t have a US Zip associated with their card - enter 00000

That said, some convenience stores also sell subway tickets so if in there for other stuff you could get a card at the same time.

Don%26#39;t think there is a difference whether you are paying cash or credit card.It is up to you which payment method you decide to use.

It is easiest to buy it at a vending machine at the subway station with a credit card. Buying a multi-trip card is a better discount, unlimited is the best. I believe one day is $7.50, two weeks is around $50, and a month is $81

We are planning on purchasing 3- 7day unlimited metro-cards using my credit card at the airport terminal. I don%26#39;t understand what was mentioned about the zip code that it asks for - can you explain that to me one more time, please. Thanks a bunch

It asks for your zip code to see if it matches the billing address for the credit card you using.

So in other words it wants my zip code - right? Thanks for helping me out there. Just one more thing I am learning before I leave in 23days!!!

Also, we%26#39;ve had difficulty purchasing 3 unlimited 7 day cards at the same vending machine one after the other. We always have to change machines when purchasing the third one. I%26#39;m not sure why that is.

Quick question. We plan on purchasing the 7-day unlimited cards....does the 7 day clock start the minute we purchase the card or the first time we swipe it?
