How Long Does it Take to go From Mid Manhattan to JFK

What time should I leave a Mid Manhattan hotel to catch a Tuesday morning flight at 11:30am from JFK. I am planning to either take an Airport Shuttle or Taxi.

Depends on traffic - it could take 45 minutes to an hour. I would also suggest you taking the subway and then the AirTrain at JFK (which takes you directly to the airline terminals). It%26#39;s definitely the easiest and cheapest way to get to JFK.

The LAST thing you should consider doing is taking one of the terrible shuttles. A taxi or a car service should cost about the same, but traffic is never reliable. If you are near Penn Station, if I were you I would take the Long Island Rail Road to Jamaica and then the AirTrain to the terminal; you can also take the E or A subway to the AirTrain, but the LIRR is faster and more comfortable.

As always GWB knows his transportation. [I think the NYPD must have taken away his cop car and made him ride the rails.:)] Penn Station to the Jamaica LIRR station is a quick and easy ride on a very comfortable railroad. No traffic worries at all. The train is very reliable. At Jamaica Station, there is a very easy transfer to the AirTrain. Just take the stairs up from the platform to the second level. Heck, they even have an airport style people mover at the station. Here%26#39;s the AirTrain web site for you further edification:
