Hi!!
We%26#39;re going to New York in a week%26#39;s time and we%26#39;re just wondering what is the easiest way to get from JFK Airport to Fitzpatrick%26#39;s Grand Central Hotel (141 E 44th St, New York, NY 10017). How long does it take to get from the airport to the city??? Would a bus or a taxi be better??? How much would they cost??
Thanks! :D

Getting from JFK to Manhattan
Taxi would be $45+tips+tolls equivalent to about $60. Catch an AirTrain and then subway is $7 each and should be about 50 mins to 1 hour to Grand Central Terminal. Getting to GCT on the subway from Jamaica station will require a change of train. Airport Express bus would be $15 each or the local MTA bus for $2 then change to subway.

We%26#39;ve always found that getting a cab is easiest. As someone has already said it%26#39;ll cost around $60 as there%26#39;s a fixed rate charge of $45 into Manhattan from JFK and onto that you have to add tolls and tips.
I%26#39;ve never fancied faffing around on public transport with luggage and if you get a shuttle bus you may have to share with others and your hotel might not be the first drop off. At least with a cab you%26#39;re taken straight from the terminal to your hotel.
Get a Yellow Cab from the queue - ignore the touts offering limo/car services = get a YCab from the dispatcher. Around 60 dollars US with tip.
Door to Door quick, easy, no worries.

I take the JFK AirTrain to Jamaica and I pick up the subway (the E train) at Jamaica.
The E train will deliver you to 53rd Street and Lexington Avenue, you can walk down Lexington Avenue or take the 6 Local train one stop to Grand Central.
If you choose to walk, it is about a 10 - 12 minute walk.
Taxi is a fixed fare. Figure $60.00. Public transport will set you back $7.00 per person.
Having done both many times, there is no doubt that taxi is %26#39;easiest';. It is more ';personal'; (your party only), door-to-door,no stairs to climb, no luggage hassles at all. Esp, when arriving at JFK from overseas, customs, maybe immigration, etc, one is exhausted.
Now, I like the AirTrain when I have little luggage and am going out to the airport, because I still have energy, having not yet been on the plane. Also the difference in price ($7 vs. $60 depends on how many people you have in your party. For one person it is a savings, but not so much for few more.
I have appreciated the set fee on the taxi, no surprises esp. if there is traffic. I have also taken a cab from Manhattan to JFK ';on the meter'; (they can do it if you ask) at a time I knew there was little traffic and saved a bit.
your advises are very useful for future visitors to NYC, such as my family and I. Thanks.
