Garden City advice..anyone?

Can anyone, who is familiar with this area, recommend some interesting (if any..LOL)restaurants for dinner? Any type of food. Just looking for some names to research.

I am not knowlegeable of this area at all (have googled, but not having much luck with specific info). Is it too far from NYC to find any dining experience with a view of NYC?

My daughter is arriving there with a co-worker on Friday for a couple of weeks (Hampton Inn - Garden City)on business. She will be coming into Manhattan during the day from time to time, but is looking for some dining options closer to where she%26#39;s staying.

One of my larger clients used to be there. I dont know where the Hampton Inn is - I used to take the train and walk to the client%26#39;s offices or whatever restaurant we were meeting at in downtown Garden City.

Probably the best place to eat is the Garden City Hotel, right across from the train station. Its a lot nicer than what I pictured - more of a corporate conference facility.

There are a few other great places right in town. 1 Italian I cant think of name of. Waterzoi, which is Belgian - and I am spelling wrong. Then there%26#39;s a basic bar %26amp; grill with really good food, but its been a few years and I cant think of the name. If I find the T%26amp;E reports with the names, i will post here

With a car, there are lots of easy to get to choices for restaurants in the Garden City area. I did a little browse at Zagats.com and saw a number of possibilities. I don%26#39;t think you have to pay for membership anymore so if you go to zagat.com and type in Garden City, NY as your location, you%26#39;ll see what%26#39;s available. (Many restaurants will be in towns that are not Garden City but within a 10-20 minute drive.)

My friend%26#39;s daughter lives near there. I%26#39;ll get names and post back within a day or so. ;)
