Fourth of July

I have never been to NYC but will be there from July 1 through the 5th. We are staying at the Hampton Inn Times Sq North, myself, my 18 year old daughter and my mother in law. I am so excited about the fireworks display as we are from a very small town and have never seen a huge display. I am wondering where we should go to see the fireworks and how to get to that location. Thanks so much for all the help.

This year, the fireworks will be over the Hudson River, using six barges strung from 24th Street to 50th Street.

I believe the city is going to close 12th Avenue to cars in order to make it into a pedestrian viewing area. From your hotel, just walk west 4 blocks and then turn left (south) until you get to the crowd.
