Any good inexpensive seafood restaurants?

We have been to New York a few times in the past few years but haven%26#39;t been able to locate a good seafood restaurant that is in our budget.(We consider our budget range to be similar to Red Lobster, only much better food than they offer!) We live in Florida so we know good quality fish and like simple, not ritzy environments. I have seen the Mermaid Inn, Aquagrill, etc. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

So are Mermaid Inn and Aquagrill too expensive? Or are you looking for more like those?

Any good inexpensive seafood restaurants?

Yes, Mermaid Inn and Aquagrill are a little expensive, especially if we want to treat some family.

Yum-O! Cheap seafood - is that like day old bread?

NYC is not Florida and its seafood reataurants are not Red Lobster%26#39;s.

Have you checked out City Crab or BLT Fish???

Remember you get what you pay for - not sure if I%26#39;d be wanting to chow down on some cheap fish.

How about you?

Try Mary%26#39;s Fish Camp:

You%26#39;re really not going to find much cheaper than that for anything of a remotely decent quality.

Well, Mermaid Inn is pretty stripped down and simple and, for a New York seafood restaurant, very modestly priced. There are a few places I know of that may be cheaper:

One Fish Two Fish:

Fish:

and Cucina di Pesce (Italian, w/a focus on seafood, as the name suggests):

I%26#39;d also think about Mary%26#39;s Fish Camp, though it%26#39;s fairly close in price to Mermaid Inn:

Alternatively, you could try a Chinese seafood place, which tend to be very unprepossessing in both decor and prices, but which serve good seafood. Two that come to mind are

Fuleen:

and Ping%26#39;s:

Thank you so much for all your suggestions- I%26#39;ll check those out!

Also near %26#39;Mary%26#39;s Fish Camp%26#39; is %26#39;Pearl Oyster%26#39; on Cornelia Street (a cute little quintessential side street in the Village). The menu%26#39;s are very similar. If you can%26#39;t get a table at Mary%26#39;s then you can always just walk over to Pearl%26#39;s.

Ed%26#39;s is another great one...on Lafayette at Kenmare Street. I havent gone in awhile because I am not allowed to spend $40 for lunch right now (a lobster sandwich and a glass of Laurent Perrier) - but I noticed they had some sort of recession special on some of the menu items. Also, not sure how long it continues, but Mermaid Inn was having a special on their lobster roll dinners if you eat before 7. I%26#39;ve had the note on my desk for months and still havent gone.

evening - you%26#39;re allowed to spend $40.00 for lunch - it%26#39;s just that the expense account will not cover the cost, correct.

BTW how much is the lobster roll; is it lobster salad or sauteed - just interested because my brother and I had LR%26#39;s here in Ct on Saturday, either sauteed or salad with an order of cole slaw, $15.95.

Let me know.....thanks
