4th afternoon I will be in New York with my wife and 7 year old son, for a 6-day stay. Visiting New York with a kid forbids a nightlife and aimless wandering and relaxation, however having the nights free for a good sleep, especially for our beloved son will not help endure the day easier. I need to keep the pace slow while there are many things not to miss in that fabulous city. Thanks this is not my first time.
Here is my plan, I want it to be easy going to accomodate my little. If you could give me hints and warnings if necessary, I would appreciate for sure.
Thursday 4th -
4 p.m. Hotel check-in at 34th str.
5 p.m. Go out and stroll, then dine and go back to room to get over the jetlag.
Friday 5th
Morning - pay a visit to my business partners in Fin. Dis. for half an hour, also to my wife%26#39;s in Upper West for another half an hour.
Afternoon - Get circleline The Beast, enjoy some shopping around MidTown North and refresh in Central Park
8 p.m. STOMP ! I hope my little has enough power to keep on with the show
Saturday 6th - wife is absent until 5 pm for training
Empire State and Bronx zoo with my son
Dine all together and back to our room with a view
Sunday 7th - wife absent again
Visit Sony Tech Store, maybe Apple store or others with my son.
12 am GAZILLION BUBBLE SHOW, kid will enjoy that for sure
afternoon - Fao Schwarz, Central Park etc.
8 pm KOOZA I am a bit concerned if it will be over the top for my kid after a busy day.
Monday 8th - probable rain
All 3, American Museum of National History
Maybe visit Guggenheim/Moma for short but not likely
Then, some shopping and strolling in Soho/Greenwhich village or in a flea market in Chelsea or elsewhere. (Depending on the rain, Macy%26#39;S)
Tuesday 9th - probable rain
Hope it won%26#39;t rain so we can go shopping, no specific plans since this is our last day, my wife would want to do some shopping for sure.
Wenesday 10th
breakfast and good bye to new york
And I hope we can have lots of fine pizzas, delis and excellent dinners throughout as well.
Itinerary check please
OK, I try to figure out myself. I think 3 shows for a 7 year old in 3 successive days is just too much. I need to cut it down to 2 or maybe 1 only. Now which one(s), that%26#39;s another story.
Itinerary check please
Hi GuavaTree,
NYC is a wonder for young children. Just the outdoor sites, like the SI Ferry, the parks, Zoo%26#39;s, big buildings, bridges, will keep them happy and interested. Enjoy NYC !!!
Hi!
First, do you mean Bronx Zoo or Central Park Zoo? All in all Bronx Zoo is almost an hour away (I know the ride itself can be shorter, but I mean, waiting for train, walking , etc.) Central Park Zoo is not as big, but it is quite delightful and quite manageable. He also might like just running around the park, watching others, taking a carousel ride, etc. I know you already have Central Park planned, so maybe skip Bronx Zoo and have more time for other things.
There are some cool costume stores he might like near Union Square:

Also the Toys R Us ferris wheel

A lot of kids (adults too) like the sports and a walk at Chelsea Piers:

And, if it rains (usually not heavy rain, mostly just drizzles) you can do those indoors activities.
Your son is lucky!
BTW: your kid might actually like (brief) visit to Guggenheim (architecture/ramp) and MoMA (which has activities and info for kids, cool gardens/sculpture (like the ';Goat';), helicopter hanging from ceiling, and very nice gift shop with lots of things for kids.
Thanks for all replies and suggestions !
Indeed I know it takes more than a day to see Bronx zoo therefore I intend to see one or two themes there or maybe I can live with the great Central Park instead. Botanical gardens and the zoo is also one of my fancies that%26#39;s why I may insist to go there though :)
Also thanks for the tips about Guggenheim and Moma, I was trying to spare some time for them and I will definitely do after this info.
I have already bought 3 seats at section 102 row BB !!!! for Saturday Night%26#39;s Kooza and now I wonder how to reach there best. There are ferries leaving at 34th, just a walking distance from the hotel we will be staying, and return trip tickets cost less than $50 and if I take a cab to go and back, will it cost too much? Is it easy to get a cab back after the show? Ferry seems perfect though but I just need to see my options in case we miss the ferry (my wife will be on a thight schedule after a training course)
