I%26#39;m looking for a hotel relatively close to Fordham in the Bronx. I would prefer something to the north rather than in the city. Is there anything decent in the better areas of the Bronx ? Do I have to go to New Rochelle or White Plains ?

Why? If you%26#39;re coming to check out the school, you%26#39;d be better staying in Manhattan so the prospective student gets a feel for what it would be like. There are quite a few hotels on the upper west side that would work like the Excelsior.

Do I have to go to New Rochelle or White Plains ?

No, you can look in Ft. Lee, New Jersey across the river via the GW Bridge. The Holiday Inn gets good reviews here. But you%26#39;d have to drive from there vs. using the subway if you stay in Manhattan.
